CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It’s been a tough journey for Meggie Williams, but this week, her Skiptown team is celebrating a big win.
Skiptown, formerly known as Skipper, is opening its flagship operation in Charlotte — a combination of an off-leash dog park, bar, pet daycare and boarding center. The 24,000-square-foot concept is at 222 Rampart St. in South End. It opens to the public on Monday.

The facility offers kennel-style boarding or a more relaxed living-room setup. Dogs are divided into play groups based on size and personality. There is a 15,000-square-foot outdoor turf area with a splash pad and agility-focused activities. The location also has a self-serve bath and grooming room.
For the humans, Skiptown will have about 25 brews on tap, plus wine, cocktails and food trucks.
