CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Police are still looking for suspects in crimes committed in uptown Charlotte over the past week. Charlotte police said the suspects are still on the loose for three different violent crimes.
Monday night, someone was shot in the foot at the uptown Charlotte transit center. A few hours later, a man was shot and killed in an apartment parking lot just down the street from Johnson and Wales University. Police are also looking for two men who beat and robbed a woman on Sixth Street last week.
Despite the recent crime, police in Charlotte said there has been a 22 percent reduction in crime in the uptown area over the past two years. They say the shootings are isolated incidents.

Police are increasing patrols in the area, though.
"You will see plain clothes people. You will see more officers on foot. You will see officers on bicycles, in police cars," said Captain Jeff Estes.
Local business owners said the increased law enforcement is a good idea.
"I actually think that's a great idea. You don't always have to know security is always around. As long as they're keeping you secure," said Garrin Murray, who runs a barber shop in Uptown.
Police said they are working to make arrests in all three cases.
