Springs is accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend, 28-year-old Pamela Garmon, at their home on Summerour Place in west Charlotte at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"It's not worth it," Garmon's aunt, Beverly Garmon Richardson, said. "For all the young ladies out there going through stuff with their men, get out. It's not worth it."
"I don't know what goes on at home with them. I don't know nothing about no trouble or nothing," Sarda Garmon, the victim's sister, said.

A neighbor called 911 after the shooting, police said. People who live nearby reported hearing at least one shot and said they then saw a man drive wildly out of the neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found Garmon dead and determined that Springs had fled and was possibly armed with a rifle, investigators said.
Shortly after, Clint Beaver, who had just left the movies at Northlake Mall, said he saw Springs, who was wearing only boxer shorts and carrying a rifle, try to flag him down.
"He was just waving … and that's when I noticed the rifle in his hand. And that's when I decided to just floor it," Beaver said.
Beaver got away but said Springs fired a shot into his truck.
Moments later, police said, Springs got a different car to stop outside of TGI Fridays. He forced the driver out of a car and then took off with the passenger, police said.

The passenger was released shortly after near Sam Furr and Statesville roads in Huntersville and was not hurt, but Springs had again fled, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police worked with officers from Huntersville, Davidson and Cornelius to set up a perimeter around the area the kidnapping victim was released. Two miles of Sam Furr Road were closed as officers searched for Springs. He was found and arrested without incident at about 1 a.m.
Police said the vehicle Springs left Summerour Place in was later found at Northlake Mall.
Springs has a criminal record including simple assaults and carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held in jail without bond and has a first appearance scheduled for Friday.
