SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Decomposed human remains have been found behind an old bottling plant not far from downtown Spartanburg.
The Herald-Journal reports Spartanburg Police say the skeletal remains were found Thursday in a field near the old Coca-Cola bottling plant by a crew working to remove brush and overgrown vegetation.
County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Friday he is working to identify the skeletal remains and determine a cause of death.
Clevenger says the remains appear to have been at the site for "over one year." He says there was no evidence of foul play.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Investigator Jason Tapp at jtapp@cityofspartanburg.org or 864-596-2065 or call CrimeStoppers at 888-Crime-SC.
