Former SC police officer accused of sexual conduct with teen in patrol car

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. — FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities in South Carolina say a former Fountain Inn police officer is facing several sex charges involving a teenage girl.

Multiple news outlets report the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says in a statement that 31-year-old Adam Kyle Snelgrove was arrested Monday and charged with criminal solicitation of a minor, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and misconduct in office.

Snelgrove is accused of having sexual relations with a then-15-year-old girl in his patrol car while on duty. He's also accused of contacting the teenager with the intent of persuading her to have sex, and fondling her at Frankie's Fun Park in Greenville County.

Arrest warrants show the alleged incidents happened between May 2012 and November 2012, while Snelgrove served as a police officer.

Snelgrove received an officer of the year award in 2013.
