Las Vegas bar apologizes after beer sign jokes about domestic violence

LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas bar and concert venue is apologizing after an employee put out a sign reading: “I like my beer like I like my violence: Domestic.”

On Facebook, a user posted a photo this week of the sign, calling it humorless and tasteless.

"Wow, Beauty Bar Las Vegas. I guess you've lost my support and patronage. There's a difference between clever satire, which goes to extremes to point out the ridiculous nature of things, and just humorless and tasteless ridicule. I've seen plenty of funny beer jokes on chalk boards, and this one hurts my heart. This isn't my downtown Las Vegas," said Derek Noel, who posted the photo.

The photo was shared with KIRO 7:

The venue posted a statement to its Facebook page on Friday:

Beauty Bar would like to issue a formal statement of apology for the actions of one employee who has been suspended...

The Beauty Bar said the employee who wrote the message on the sign has been suspended pending further investigation.

According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, one in four women and one in seven men age 18 and older in the United States have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
