Heche, 53, died Friday from injuries she sustained when her vehicle crashed into a Los Angeles home on Aug. 5, according to the Los Angeles Times. Officials said she is brain dead and on life support pending evaluation for organ donations, according to The Associated Press.

“As of today, there will be no further investigative efforts made in this case,” the police department announced Friday. “Any information or records that have been requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they arrive as a matter of formalities and included in the overall case. When a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration.”

On Thursday, authorities said they were investigating whether Heche was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, the AP reported.

On Thursday night, Holly Baird, a spokesperson for Heche’s family, said that the Emmy-Award-winning actress had suffered an “anoxic” brain injury after the crash and was in critical condition and in a coma.

Ellen DeGeneres, who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000, tweeted that Friday was “a sad day.”

“I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love,” DeGeneres tweeted.

Heche’s vehicle crashed into the home owned by Jennifer Durand and occupied by tenant Lynne Mishele, People reported.

Mishele said she has lost everything in the residence after it was destroyed by the fire caused in the aftermath of the crash, according to the magazine.

GoFundMe page was set up on Mishele’s behalf and had raised more than $162,000 by Saturday afternoon.

Mishele also sent support to Heche’s loved ones after news of her death on Friday.

In a video posted from her Creative Organization business account, Mishele called the news “devastating,” People reported.

“(They) really have suffered a great loss and my heart goes out for them,” Mishele said in the video. “This entire situation is tragic and there really are just no words.

“I’m sending love to everybody involved.”

During the 1990s, Heche played opposite actors including Johnny Depp (“Donnie Brasco”) and Harrison Ford (“Six Days, Seven Nights”).

From 2001 to 2009, she was married to camera operator Coleman Laffoon, with whom she had a son. She had another son during a relationship with actor James Tupper, her co-star on the TV series “Men In Trees.”

She recently had recurring roles on the network TV series “Chicago P.D.” and “All Rise,” and in 2020 was a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Heche is also known for her roles as Vicky Hudson and Marley Love in the soap opera “Another World” and won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991, the Times reported.
