St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church in Pittsburgh was hit by the bolt of lightning Sunday morning just before 9 a.m. EDT, WPXI reported.

Inside the church were close to 150 people who were preparing for the service to start.

“We heard it inside the church, knocked off the electricity,” Father Larry DiNardo told WPXI. “Some of the lights came on, but there’s electrical damage inside. The sound system is not in good shape. We had some other little problems but mainly the roof is not in the best of shape.”

Damage to the roof was contained to the church’s dome, which had several tiles break off and hit the road below, WPXI reported.

Nobody was hurt, and services began once emergency crews cleared the scene.
