Irate Wingstop customer hurls cash register through window

ANTELOPE, Calif. — A Wingstop customer in Antelope, California, lobbed a cash register through a window Saturday after being denied a refund when he received the wrong order.

Cellphone video, recorded by witness Tharon Trujillo, shows an unidentified man who claimed his order was short a few wings, arguing with the chain’s staff and demanding a refund. An employee told the man company policy for online orders does not allow refunds and offered to make a new batch.

“I don’t want the food, I don’t have time to wait on the food again, so now what do we do?” the man can be heard yelling in the video.

The employee, meanwhile, can be heard trying to defuse the situation.

“It’s either you get the food remade and you go on about your day and stop yelling at my other manager cause that is, no, it’s uncalled for,” the unidentified employee said.

Trujillo’s video captured the moment when the man grabbed the cash register, slammed it to the ground twice and threw it out the window, KOVR reported.

“I was telling him to calm down. I said, ‘You don’t want to go to jail. You don’t want to go to jail,’” Trujillo told the TV station, noting he overheard the man say that the restaurant gave him the wrong order twice before the confrontation.

The store manager told KPTV that it would cost about $6,000 to replace the register, but the company is still waiting on a quote to fix the shattered window.

Meanwhile, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office told the TV station that a warrant for the man’s arrest could be issued because anything over the $950 in damage is considered felony vandalism.
