Police: New Jersey man rammed SUV into squad car as officer responded to emergency

HACKENSACK, N.J. — A New Jersey man is accused of ramming his SUV several times into a police vehicle that was responding to an emergency, authorities said.

Yves Davilmar Jr., 26, of Hackensack, was arrested on Thursday and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, criminal mischief and several motor vehicle summonses, according to NJ.com.

According to the Hackensack Police Department, Officer Panagiotis Seretis was responding with lights and sirens to assist another officer at about 10:30 a.m. EST when a black Ford Explorer driven by Davilmar refused to pull to the side of the road, the Daily Voice of Bergen County reported.

According to Hackensack police Capt. Michael Antista, Davilmar eventually pulled over but allegedly began following the officer after he had driven by, NJ.com reported.

“The vehicle then suddenly accelerated and rammed into the rear of (the police vehicle),” Antista said in a statement.

The police vehicle stopped and the driver of the Explorer then “intentionally backed up and proceeded to ram” the officer’s vehicle multiple times, Antista said.

Seretis, who suffered a minor injury, exited his vehicle and arrested Davilmar, NJ. com reported.
