CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Super Bowl can’t start without the coin flip.
For the 24th consecutive year The Highland Mint has minted the official Super Bowl flip coin.
The coins are carefully struck of fine silver plate and selectively plated with 24 karat gold. Featured on the obverse is the official Super Bowl 50 logo which features the Vince Lombardi Trophy as well as the commissioner’s signature.
The reverse is minted with a unique Super Bowl 50 logo that incorporates the team logos in the number 50. Also minted on the perimeter is the date and location of the game.
Each coin measures 1.5 inch diameter, approximately the size of a silver dollar, and each is individually numbered on the coin to match the number on the certificate of authenticity that accompanies each flip coin.
The 2-tone coin is protected in an acrylic capsule to preserve its condition.
A limited mintage of only 10,000 are officially licensed by the National Football League.
The coins can be purchased and retail for roughly $100. Click here for more information.
