Channel 9 "Big 22" player and Burns quarterback Chris Montgomery has committed to play football at UNC-Charlotte.
Montgomery told WSOC-TV Sports Director Tiffany Wright he chose the 49ers from a total of 12 schools, but wouldn't say what the other schools were.
Montgomery said he attended the 49ers inaugural game vs. Campbell on Saturday and was loved the atmosphere, which he said "sealed the deal" for him to make his decision.
He said he is thrilled about the opportunity of being able to play so close to home so his family and friends can come see him play.
He also said the 49ers are planning on using him as a wide receiver.
