Big 22 player Zac Pollard suffers torn ACL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Big 22 player Zac Pollard tore his ACL in South Caldwell's game against West Cladwell High School Friday night.

WSOC-TV Sports spoke with South Caldwell Head Coach Butch Carter, who said Pollard is having an MRI on Tuesday to find out the severity of the injury.

Pollard's mother, Stacie Pollard, that the results revealed a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and a torn meniscus.  She said there's no date for the surgery.

"The one thing I think about our football program is that we're all family and we all love each other," Carter said. "I think we have a nice close bond of coaches, players and everybody and it hurts when you lose any teammate to injury."

Pollard injured his left knee during the first quarter of the game on Friday night.  South Caldwell won the game 28-0.

Stacie Pollard said Zac will continue to be on the sidelines with the team and even help out with coaching. She said he will continue to work out his upper body and will be with the team as much as possible.
