Quarterback Sam Howell amassed more than 450 yards of total offense in leading Sun Valley to a 38-21 win over Union County rival Porter Ridge Friday night in the WSOC-TV High School Football Extra Game of the Week.
Howell, a Florida State commit, passed for more than 350 yards with three touchdown passes while notching his third 100-yard rushing game of the season.

Howell, a three-time Big 22 Player to Watch, accounted for four of the Trojans touchdowns.
Howell has passed for more than 800 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions this season, while gaining more than 350 yards with three scores. He threw for 3,372 yards with 36 touchdowns in 2017 to go along with 1,594 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.
The Pirates are led by quarterback Grayson McCall and running back Jaylen Coleman,
Sun Valley (3-0) has won the past six matchups against Porter Ridge (2-2), but four of these were decided by one score.
The last time Porter Ridge defeated Sun Valley was in 2012 when the Pirates won 28-21 en route to an appearance in the NCHSAA 4A state championship game.
