CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This Father’s Day, skip the tie and socks and spend a memorable day out with dad instead.

Not sure where to start? Here are a few fun ideas:

Get tickets to one of the most buzzed about shows in town. The “Immersive Van Gogh” exhibition brings to life the art of Vincent Van Gogh through entrancing, moving images that highlight the brushstrokes, details and colors of each piece. The show opens Thursday and runs through Sept. 12 at Camp North End. Click here for more information.

If dad has a need for speed, check out Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Summer Laps for Charity event on Saturday. For a $40 donation to Speedway Children’s Charities, dad can take three laps on the ROVAL course in his personal vehicle and have his photo taken in Victory Lane. Click here for more details.

Check out Father’s Day Fest at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery on Saturday and Sunday. There will be live music in the biergarten, chipping stations where you can work on your golf swing and a special menu. Click here for more information.

Start the day off with Father’s Day Brunch at Cabarrus Brewing on Sunday. Enjoy a two-course meal featuring options such as chicken and waffles or vanilla mascarpone stuffed French Toast with Scotch egg. The meal costs $30 for adults and $11 for children. Treat dad to a day on the lake at Queens Landing’s Papa Pah-Loozah on Sunday. Book a lunch or dinner cruise or stay landside and enjoy games and live music. They’ve even got a mechanical bull and dunk tank. Click here for more information.

Catch a baseball game. The Charlotte Knights are taking on Jacksonville at Truist Field in uptown from Tuesday through Sunday. There will be fireworks after the game on Friday, and on Sunday, kids can play catch on the field with dad before the game and run the bases after the game.

Or check out one of the new stadiums close to Charlotte – the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are home June 22-27, and the Gastonia Honey Hunters are home June 25-27.

Have some high-octane fun at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In addition to exploring the exhibits and interactive experiences, the museum will host a watch party in its theater for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. Click here for more information.
