The boy was believed to have been kidnapped by a woman in northwest Charlotte, but has been located safely with his mother in Fayetteville.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Monday morning, Channel 9 learned that police do not plan on pressing charges after an Amber Alert was issued in north Charlotte on Sunday.
Police say Speaks was taken from Bird Watch Lane around 6 p.m. on Sunday night.
Police say he was abducted by one person in a blue minivan.
Speaks is a 10-year-old black male, approximately 4 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 60 pounds.
He has black hair and brown eyes.
Symiir was last seen wearing a yellow and gray polo shirt with khaki shorts.
Symiir was also wearing black and orange sneakers.
Police said they are looking for the person who took him.
That person has been described by police as a black female with long hair.
Neighbors Eyewitness News spoke with said they saw the blue minivan earlier Sunday afternoon.
"We just saw a bunch of cop cars up here, and then we saw a bunch of news channel trucks pull up. So, that is when we found out it was probably something a little more serious," said Jason Hammond.
"He was right outside playing. I believe it was a relative that kidnapped him. I just want any help I can get to get him back. I believe it was a blue minivan with either Pennsylvania license plates or North Carolina license plates," said Symiir's father Azzam Pendleton.
