LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Lancaster County firefighter, known for his service, leadership, and impact on so many lives in his community, died seven months ago in a tragic accident.
Dennis Straight was struck by a car and killed last November while trying to direct traffic around a 3-car crash at Highway 5 and 521. A week later, he was honored by firefighters, law enforcement, and first responders from all over the state.
But, Straight's community wanted to make sure he was never forgotten.
"It means a lot knowing I could do this for him, and that way nobody will ever forget him," one firefighter said.
Watch the video above as our South Carolina bureau reporter Greg Suskin shows us the honor he was given Thursday.
