ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Rowan County emergency crews said 92-year-old Johnsie Riley was killed in a house fire Saturday night when her home erupted in flames on Yellow Brick Road.
The Atwell Fire Department was working on a downed tree nearby when they saw smoke and rushed over to the home, Rowan County officials said.
Several surrounding fire departments responded to the fire at the two-story home located in the Mooresville area.
Investigators said the fire was weather-related, but are still working to determine how it started.
