Suspect in custody after 3 shot in Marion, police say

MARION, N.C. — A person has been arrested in connection with a triple shooting that occurred in Marion Tuesday night, ABC affiliate WLOS reported.

The shooting that injured the three people happened at about 8 p.m.

Those victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

McDowell County authorities said 50-year-old Joseph Andrew Hartwell Jr. has been arrested in connection with this case.

Authorities have not released any information about a motive for the shooting or the conditions of the victims.

According to WLOS, Ashworth Road near Interstate 40 was blocked off, and heavily armed law enforcement officers and K-9s were seen in the area, as was a drone.
