CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A series of storms made their way across Charlotte on Thursday afternoon, leaving a trail of damage in their wake.
Trees crashed into cars in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Matthews, and one tree also came down across Old Airport Road in Concord.
In Rock Hill, a massive tree just missed a family's home as well as power poles toppled in one neighborhood.
"Storm was pretty fierce as were coming down the road and we saw there was a tree down and then we realized it was our tree," a resident said.
Friday morning, crews had to call in construction equipment to remove a large tree blocking Milton Avenue in Rock Hill. The road has since reopened.
As of 4 a.m., about 600 Duke Energy customers in the Charlotte area were still without power.
