Billy Graham's daughter asks for prayer in breast cancer fight

RALEIGH, N.C. — Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of the late Rev. Billy Graham, revealed Wednesday she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will have surgery later this month.

Lotz, 70, announced the diagnosis in a post on her website.

"So I am left to worship and totally trust our God who is ultimately in control," Lotz said on her website. "Of everything."

"Each day since the diagnosis God has given me promises and encouragement from His word. He also has made it clear that my healing will be an answer not just my prayer, but the prayers of others for me," Lotz said.

She has made a name for herself as a Christian speaker after years of teaching Bible classes and was called "the best preacher in the family" by her father, according to her website.

In the same post, Lotz said she received the diagnosis three years "to the day" and "at the very same time of day" she found her husband dead in their pool.

She is the founder and president of Raleigh-based AnGeL Ministries, traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. Lotz also serves as a board member for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

She is expected to undergo surgery on Sept. 18 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Lotz is the second oldest daughter of the late Rev. Graham, who died Feb. 21 in Montreat. He was 99.
