ROCK HILL, S.C. — Authorities in York County raided a Rock Hill spa they said was being used for prostitution.
Indeego Spa on North Cherry Street looks like a regular spa and advertises services for men and women, but authorities arrested the owner Tuesday, accusing her of offering sexual services for money inside this business. The spa shares a parking lot with a church.
Investigators raided Indeego Spa after receiving multiple complaints about prostitution. Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together to investigate the complaints. They seized cellphones, laptops, cameras and more than $300.
Investigators also found Internet ads. Indeego Spa listed on review sites for erotic massages in Rock Hill.
Authorities arrested owner-operator Peilian Mace.
People at the church nearby spoke to Channel 9 after Tuesday night’s prayer service. They said the arrest confirmed their suspicions.
Ivan Colon attends the nearby church.
"They closed really late, always had their curtains down, men's going in there to get massages made us think something was going on," he said.
People from the church said they never had any solid evidence, but they prayed for the people at the spa.
Authorities said the owner lived in the back. She was taken to the Moss Justice Center on solicitation charges.
