CHARLOTTE — A busy intersection in south Charlotte was shut down Thursday morning due to a water main break.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed they were on the scene at Fairview Road and Providence Road around 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning.
Channel 9 spotted crews continuing to work on repairs Friday.

Charlotte Water said that in situations like this, amid the freezing temperatures outside, they work with the Charlotte Department of Transportation to “slag streets that have water on them to reduce impacts on drivers.”
CMPD is encouraging drivers to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
