MINT HILL, N.C. — With 20,000 deaths and counting, the nation's nursing homes are in crisis.
240 of those lives were lost in North Carolina.
More than 22,000 others have gotten infected inside the state's long-term care facilities.
Mint Hill Senior Living has not had any of its residents test positive for coronavirus, but that doesn't mean there aren't concerns.
Channel 9 got a rare glimpse behind the invisible curtain that has surrounded nursing homes since the coronavirus put long-term care facilities on the defensive.
The nursing home’s Director of Marketing, Marian Navarro, showed reporter Mark Becker the view from inside the facility after we got complaints that critical supplies were lacking.

Several employees who didn't want to be identified told Channel 9 that the facility was out of gloves and rubbing alcohol. They also claim some residents didn’t get enough food.
Navarro made a point of showing us a supply closet stocked with gloves and other supplies.
A few residents told Becker that they're doing fine.
“None of us are sick. If any staff members were sick they stayed away from the place,” resident Cindy Witmire said.
The facility is still not allowing anyone inside for visits. They showed us where family members can visit through a window.
There’s no timetable yet for when things will go back to normal.
