CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several Charlotte breweries brought home national honors from the Great American Beer Festival, held last weekend in Denver, Colorado.
Town Brewing Co., which came onto the local craft-beer scene just a little over a year ago with the opening of its taproom in the burgeoning area known as FreeMoreWest, nabbed the city's top award — a Gold medal in the "Contemporary Gose" category for its "Cruise to Nowhere" brew.
And Pilot Brewing, also little more than a year old and located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, was the only brewery across the state to win two medals.
