CMPD continues recruitment across the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will recruit across the Carolinas the next two weeks as it tries to fill an officer shortage.

CMPD will be at Fort Jackson base in Columbia, South Carolina, and at the Charlotte Goodwill job fair on Friday.

The following week, it will go to Shaw Air Force Base near Sumter, South Carolina, before returning to Fort Jackson.

CMPD is trying to fill a shortage of 200 officers.

It says officers are leaving for other cities like Raleigh that have a higher starting pay.

CMPD is asking Charlotte City Council for a 15 percent raise across the board.
