Comedian documents private jet's emergency landing in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — A popular comedian’s flight had to make an emergency landing Wednesday night right after it took off in Raleigh.

Russell Peters and his crew were on their way back to Los Angeles after a show at Durham Performing Arts Center when a tire blew on their private jet. He said the pilot made the announcement 30 minutes into the flight around 1:30 a.m.

They were forced to circle back around, doing a low fly-by to burn some of the fuel before making an emergency landing.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport said there were seven people on board.

Peters referred the landing as their “Welcome Committee,” as fire trucks and ambulances lined the runway.

Fortunately, Peters says no one was hurt, it was just a very bumpy landing.

“I have to figure out the funny part. I mean it's not that exciting actually. It could've been a much better story. We took off, it vibrated. We landed, it vibrated. Here we are,” said Peters.

Peters and his crew will now fly out on a commercial flight Thursday morning.
