Community celebrates Kwanzaa

CHARLOTTE — The community will have the opportunity to celebrate Kwanza in Charlotte from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1.

“Kwanzaa, 2019 – A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture” is free to the public

Kwanzaa is an African-American celebration established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It is a seven-day, non-heroic and non-religious observance.

The events will take place from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on those dates.
