A contractor is facing charges in two counties for home renovation projects involving tens of thousands of dollars.
Jeffery Maier was charged in Caldwell and Alexander counties with obtaining property by false pretenses.
He took more than $100,000 from two families but didn’t do the work, according to arrest warrants.
Maier cashed two checks on one of the projects while using a different name, according to court documents.
