Court documents reveal chilling details in deadly drive-by shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 is learning more details Monday about a shooting in Charlotte's Hidden Valley neighborhood.

Two people were killed and two others were rushed to hospital.

The accused shooter, Levi Johnson, 23, was in court Monday and Channel 9 obtained new documents that shed light on what happened.

Court documents reveal that interviews with witnesses and two of the survivors of the shooting on Reagan Drive painted a chilling picture of the drive-by shooting.

Three witnesses told police they had seen the driver of a white sedan firing into the victims' car.

They said the shooter got out of his car and continued shooting, before driving off.

The warrant said crime scene technicians found 14 .40-caliber shell casings at the scene made by Barnes Bullets, which is a brand of ammunition.

Detectives traced the bullets to a store at Concord Mills mall that had video of Johnson buying two guns and the ammunition four days earlier.

The documents also reveal that the shooting was the violent end to an ongoing feud between Johnson and one of his alleged victims, Davion Funderburk.

Friends told police that Johnson and his brother had beaten up Funderburk five days earlier and that Funderburk had threatened Johnson, saying that he would "see him tonight."
