No one hurt in fire at vacant building in Elizabeth neighborhood, CFD says

CHARLOTTE — No one was hurt in a building fire in the Elizabeth neighborhood on Thursday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

CFD said they responded to the 1700 block of East 7th Street before 11 a.m. for a building with fire showing from the roof.

MEDIC and CFD confirmed no one was hurt in the blaze.

A Channel 9 crew at the scene could see smoke coming from the building. CFD said 38 firefighters controlled the blaze in 30 minutes.

Fire investigators said the fire was accidental and caused by “a warming fire in a partially sealed fire place in a vacant structure.”

Damage is estimated at $30,000, CFD said.
