Doctor talks office plans after Atrium Health split

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tryon Medical Partners is putting the infrastructure in place to see its first patients later this summer.

That medical group will be comprised of roughly 90 Mecklenburg Medical Group physicians, who plan to leave Atrium Health.

Those physicians filed a lawsuit seeking to form an independent practice earlier this year. Charlotte-based Atrium granted that request, allowing those physicians to leave after Aug. 31.

Dr. Dale Owen, leader of Tryon Medical Partners and currently a cardiologist with Mecklenburg Medical Group, says it’s geting the infrastructure in place is key. That to-do list includes offices, insurance contracts, hiring new employees and scheduling the first patients.
