Duke Energy makes progress on plan to restore power quicker

CHARLOTTE — Duke Energy officials said storms in the Carolinas have become more destructive, which leads to more power outage.

There were 461,000 customers left in the dark a couple of weeks ago when tornadoes ripped through the Carolinas.

“We are installing our smart, self-healing technology on main power lines in communities across Charlotte,” Duke Energy spokesman Jeff Brooks said. “Some communities include: Mallard Creek, Reed Creek Nature Center area off of Hood Road, I-485 at Rocky River Road, I-485 at Latta Nature Center, Derita, Druid Hills, Monroe and Rama roads (Sherwood Forest), Brookshire (Oakdale South), Foxcroft/SouthPark, McAlpine, Ballantyne, Albemarle and Idlewild roads, Independence Boulevard (Matthews), Woodlea and that was just a partial list from Charlotte. We are installing all across the viewing area.”
