RALEIGH — The holiday season officially begins in Raleigh Thursday night with the Gov. Josh Stein’s tree lighting ceremony.

This year’s tree is decorated with ornaments representing each of North Carolina’s 100 counties, showcasing the state’s diversity and unity.

The tree is a Fraser fir sourced from Barr Evergreens in Ashe County, highlighting local agriculture and the importance of supporting local businesses.
