CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators have determined a large fire that broke out at a motel in south Charlotte Tuesday night was accidental, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

The fire happened at the Motel 6 along Nations Ford Road and Red Roof Drive, near Interstate 77 just before 9 p.m.

Firefighters said when they got to the motel, they saw heavy fire coming from the building. Officials said it took 34 firefighters 22 minutes to control the fire.
