CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews are working to clear a massive tree that fell onto two houses in northwest Charlotte early Tuesday morning.
It happened just after midnight Tuesday on Grandin Road in Wesley Heights.
Officials said the homeowners were out of town, but their dogs were trapped inside.

The building inspector on scene told Channel 9 the house has been deemed unsafe until crews can get inside later Tuesday morning.
No other information has been released.
