HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — It looks like Banana Republic’s days at Birkdale Village in Huntersville are numbered.
Birkdale owner North American Properties confirmed that the retailer will likely close next year when its lease expires.
“We are still in negotiation with the brand we anticipate taking its space and cannot share that information until the lease is fully executed,” says Britni Johnson, spokeswoman.
Gap Inc. — parent to Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy and Athleta — has announced plans to close approximately 350 Gap and Banana Republic stores by the end of 2023. It has closed 275 stores to date.
