UPDATE: Davidson gas leak located, "shelter in place" lifted

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Town of Davidson reported a gas leak Thursday morning that affects residents in the 400 block of Delburg Street.

That’s near the intersection of Beaty Street.

Residents were being asked to stay inside their homes while fire and police officials worked to determine the cause of the leak and monitor air levels.

As of 11:40 a.m., the town reported Dominion Energy crews were on scene and authorities had gone door-to-door notifying affected residents.

There remains some traffic restrictions in the area while work is continuing, but the town said the leak -- which was caused by construction work -- has been identified and stopped.

Officials said repairs to the damaged gas line were completed at 12:50 p.m., and crews were working to restore service to more than 50 affected customers.

Residents are asked to avoid traveling through that area as well.
