Grand jury indicts DoorDash driver accused of killing teen allegedly trying to steal car

Mecklenburg County Courthouse

CHARLOTTE — A grand jury indicted a DoorDash driver on first-degree murder this week after he allegedly shot and killed a teen trying to steal his car while he was delivering food.

The bill of indictment was filed on Tuesday.

Police said DoorDash driver Keshawn Boyd told them that he shot and killed 15-year-old Matthias Crockett on Jan. 22 off Graham Street in Uptown.

Boyd has no criminal history and the public defender argued self-defense.

He is being held in jail under no bond.
