CHARLOTTE — A gun was found on the campus of a west Charlotte high school, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
CMS told Channel 9 the firearm was found at West Mecklenburg High School.
The district said weapon detectors alerted them to the gun, which didn’t have any live rounds or ammunition. Law enforcement arrived and started an investigation, CMS said.
“All students and staff are safe and there has been no disruption to the instructional day,” the district said.
This is the first time CMS has said they’ve found a gun using their scanners.
Channel 9 has reported on two other incidents of guns on campus this year.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
