CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A gun was found at Julius L. Chambers High School on Friday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Officials have not said if any arrests have been made, as this is an ongoing investigation.
Below is the message CMS sent to families on Friday:
Good afternoon Julius Chambers families,
This is Principal Turner with an important message. During dismissal, our school resource officer received information that led to finding a gun on campus. No threats were made and no students were injured. Please discuss with your students the dangers of bringing weapons on campus and the serious consequences that apply to those who do. It is against the law and the CMS Code of Student Conduct.
This is the 13th gun to be found at a CMS school this school year.
Earlier this week, an arrest was made after officers found a loaded gun in a student’s backpack at South Mecklenburg High School, officials said.
