Have you seen him? Man last spotted near Linville Falls still missing

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A man last seen near Linville Falls in Burke County is still missing, deputies say.

Dean Anthony Yelton, 48, was last seen on July 31 when a friend dropped him off at the falls along NC 105. Yelton had camping and hiking equipment with him.

Yelton is from Marion and is described as weighing 200 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair and is 5 feet, 7 inches tall.

He is believed to have had the following items while camping along NC 105: A chainsaw, blue tarp, a hiking backpack with an orange external metal frame, and a small child’s “PJ Mask” backpack.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office asked that anyone with information call the sheriff’s office at 828-438-5500.
