Study: Local hospital rates lowest in US for specially trained ICU doctors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new study rated thousands of hospitals across the country, including in the Charlotte area.

The Washington-based nonprofit Leapfrog Group looked at 28 measurements, such as errors, accidents, injuries and infections to come up with letter grades.

The group gave Carolinas HealthCare System-University and Novant-Matthews A grades, while Carolinas Medical Center-Main and Novant Presbyterian received B grades.

CHS in Pineville and Monroe were among the lowest in the state with a C grade.

According to Leapfrog's research, of the 2,600 hospitals it looked at, CHS Pineville had the lowest rating in the country when it comes to specially trained doctors in the intensive care unit.
