CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A longtime Charlotte chef and restaurateur’s newest venture will soon open in Plaza Midwood. Bruce Moffett says N.C. Red is set to open on April 17.
It is located in the former Penguin Drive-In space at 1205 Thomas Avenue.

The restaurant’s menu will meld the flavors of New England with the New South. It’s a nod to Moffett’s Rhode Island roots, combining that with nearly 20 years he’s also been part of Charlotte’s restaurant community.
Andrew Dodd will join Bruce Moffett at N.C. Red as a partner and executive chef. Dodd previously held that position at Stagioni in Myers Park.
“N.C. Red is unlike any of my former restaurants,” Moffett says.
