CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have arrested a man accused of chasing two young teens around a northeast Charlotte apartment complex while carrying a machete.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday at the Woodlawn Hollow Apartments on Dovetree Lane, right off of North Tryon Street and West Arrowhead Road.
Officials said two teens were outside at the Woodlawn Hollow Apartments when police said Jeremis Diaz chased them with a machete in a "terrorizing manner."
The teens were not hurt, and they told police they did not know Diaz.
While Diaz has been arrested, neighbors told Channel 9's Erin Edwards the neighborhood is shaken up.
"This has not happened here in this area," resident Mohamad Muse said. "I've lived here for 10 years and never seen something so scary and crazy like this."
Diaz is charged with going armed to the terror of the public.
