He is behind bars under a $250,000 bond.

Police said Dawson spotted the victim, Precious Mack, waiting to pick up her friend outside of ADS, a pipe business on Main Street in Bessemer City, just before midnight.

"I (saw) a gentleman get out and he put his hood on," Mack said.

She told police that Dawson pointed a gun at her and ordered her to get in the backseat of her 2013 Camaro.

“The front door opened of the car and it was a gun to my stomach,” Mack said.

She said her he made her sit in the back seat with her hands over the front seat so he could see them.

"He said, ‘I know where you live at.’ He was like, 'And if you call the police, I'm going shoot that house up you and your kids. 'I don't care about nobody in there.’” Mack said.

She said he drove back into Gastonia with a man in another car following.

They stopped behind the old Arlington School on Webb Street and threw her out.

He then tied her hands and legs with zip ties and Dawson started to drive away, but stopped and came back to her.

She was able to run to a nearby house and call 911.

"I'm scared to even walk out of the house,” Mack said.

Police spotted the Camaro near the intersection of Bessemer City Road and Franklin Boulevard a short time later and officers gave chase.

They said Dawson tried making a left turn onto White Street but took it too fast and wrecked into an embankment.

Dawson jumped out of the car but was cornered by officers and taken into custody. He was then transported to the Caromont Regional Medical Center to be checked out.

Dawson, 33, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, possession of drug paraphernalia, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, eluding arrest and resisting a public officer.

Mack said she is still waiting to hear if police have found another man involved in the ordeal.
