PINEVILLE, N.C. — A man was arrested Tuesday after being accused of breaking into several storage units in Pineville, police said.
Police told Channel 9 that several undercover officers bought stolen property Monday from Ryan Jacobs, 27, which led to a search warrant and his arrest.
Officers swarmed a house just off Audrey Kell Road in Ballantyne Tuesday night where neighbors said they saw police throw open the doors and arrest Jacobs.
“I know they banged down the door they used one of those instruments to slam open the door,” said neighbor Dave Waldman.
Authorities said he cut locks off storage units and took everything inside.
Police believe Jacobs was also linked to similar thefts in Charlotte and Union County.
According to officials, Jacob has a lengthy criminal record and a dozen mug shots. He has been arrested for other crimes such as car theft and drug possession.
“Every day we see young children walking up and down the street and a lot of people aren’t aware of what’s going on behind these closed doors so it’s just a shame," said Waldman.
His girlfriend was also arrested Tuesday night and was charged with meth possession.
Jacob is expected to appear in court Monday.
