CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A man has died following a crash in Catawba County early Saturday morning, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., troopers said they responded to a fatal crash on NC 150 near Island Ford Road.
At the scene, they found 59-year-old John Allen Martin deceased.
An investigation revealed that Martin was traveling west in a 2022 GMC Sierra when he crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left, struck a fence, and then struck a tree.
Troopers said Martin was wearing his seatbelt during the collision, and impairment does not seem to be a contributing factor.
