Same man suspected in 3 armed robberies at Ballantyne ATM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a man who is allegedly involved in a series of Bank America ATM armed robberies at the same Ballantyne location.

The most recent robbery happened Monday night at the ATM on Conlan Circle.

Police said the man robbed three victims at gunpoint at the bank’s ATM on July 1, July 10, and July 23.

All the crimes have happened at night and police said the suspect is a white or Hispanic man.

Channel 9 covered the previous crimes two weeks ago. The first two robberies involved people depositing cash from their businesses.

The robber got away with $2,800 from an employee of Viva Chicken who was trying to put the cash into the ATM.

Customers at the bank told Channel 9 they hope this ends soon.

“I feel confident that the bank will take care of it,” said customer Keith Overcash.

The bank has several well-positioned cameras and CMPD officers could be seen patrolling near the parking lot.

In the photos, the suspect is wearing a black and green mask and a white cloth.

Customers said even though the robberies happened in Ballantyne, a typically quiet part of Charlotte, people can’t let their guard down.

“It's like any other Bank of America. Nice people, good company but not immune to anything,” said customer Michael Mcgraw.

In addition to CMPD's patrols, there is now a security guard parked outside the bank.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
