CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have identified the man they said was struck and killed by a car in east Charlotte Monday night.
Investigators said Barry Mahoney was walking along Eastway Drive, near The Plaza, when he stepped in front of a car.
The driver of the car, Jimel Tamba, stayed at the scene and police do not think speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
Tamba was arrested for driving with a revoked license and no insurance.
Police closed The Plaza inbound between Blendwood and Eastway drives before reopening the roadway around midnight.
